Spanish footballer David Silva on Thursday announced his retirement from football after following an ACL injury during the preseason with Real Sociedad.
The 37-year-old is a legend with the Spanish national team and Manchester City.
He was part of the legendary Spanish team who won three consecutive international tournaments between 2008-2012 meanwhile, with Man City, he won 14 trophies after spending 10 years with the English club.
Other than Spain and Man City, Silva played for Eibar, Celta Vigo and Real Sociedad.
He scored a total of 124 goals and provided 154 assists in his astonishing that consisted of 784 games, becoming one of the most admired and respected footballing figures around the world.
"Today is a sad day for me," Silva said on social media.
"Today it is time to say goodbye to what I have dedicated my whole life to. Today it is time to say goodbye to my colleagues, who are like family to me. I will miss you very much."
Man City also honoured their legend for his exceptional career with them.

During his time with Man City, Silva was named thrice in the PFA Team of the Year. He won the Premier League (PL) four times, including the most famous last-minute PL win in 2012.
Other than that, he won the FA Cup twice, the English league cup five times, and Community Shield thrice.
He also registered 92 assists in the PL, more than the likes of Thierry Henry, David Beckham, Steven Gerrard and others.
Although, despite a very legendary career, Silva did miss out on winning the UEFA Champions League (UCL), however, he does have World Cup in his trophy cabinet.
Silva left City in 2020, after which he joined Real Sociedad in La Liga. He made an immediate impact and his contributions awarded him a contract renewal.
In the 2022-23 season, Silva maintained his form and kept on performing at a high level. He helped his team qualify for UCL after securing a finish in fourth place.
